An independent Buddhist school located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i serving
children ages preschool through eighth grade.
Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii
The organization of thirty-six Honpa or Nishi Hongwanji temples in
Hawai‘i. Hongwanji is a Mahayana, Pure Land sect of Buddhism which
originated in Japan.
Buddhist Study Center
A non-profit program sponsored by the Honpa Hongwanji Mission of
Hawai‘i, BSC houses a resource library and provides educational
services to college-aged students and the general public.

Federation of Jr. Young Buddhist Association
A Shin Buddhist club for teens ages 13 through 19, sponsored by the
Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawai‘i. The goal of the club is to
help teenagers learn and practice Shin Buddhism in a way that is
relevant, meaningful, and fun.

(HAIS) is an organization of member schools that advocates on behalf of
independent education in Hawaii and
participates actively in the educational dialogue in the Hawaii
community. It provides services that
strengthen individual schools, and it supports their efforts to achieve
educational quality and excellence for students. HAIS facilitates
collaborative
efforts among member schools on issues of mutual concern as well as
partnerships to address shared needs.

people worldwide. BDK America is headquartered in Berkeley, California.
