PBA Run / Walk for Peace 2018
Aloha PBA Sports Fans,
Five years ago, a new employee of the school and a PBA parent began the Run for Peace team that collected pledges for their participation in the Honolulu Marathon. All donations were designated for the Annual Fund so that more families could send their teenagers to Pacific Buddhist Academy.
In a few weeks, that same employee (me) and parent (whose daughter is now a PBA alumna) will again participate in the renamed Run / Walk for Peace team that has grown to 14 members and, for the first time, includes a 10K component.
In the months leading up to December 9, the team has enjoyed a few gatherings to talk story about preparing for the race, and individuals have been training on their own and building up their endurance. By Thanksgiving, most members will have completed their longest runs or walks and will begin saving their energy for the big day.
Run / Walk for Peace has raised more than $10,000 for PBA in its five-year history. As I look forward to finishing my 23rd marathon, I can write that knowing people on or off the course are rooting for you makes every mile completed an even sweeter accomplishment!
I deeply appreciate all your support. On behalf of the entire team, I wish you and yours a wonderful winter!
