PBA's 11th Annual Taiko Festival
One of the premier high school taiko programs in the nation will celebrate a showcase of student, faculty and guest talent on Sunday, April 9, at 4 p.m. at the Pearl City Cultural Center. The theme of Pacific Buddhist Academy’s 11th annual festival is Taiji: The Yin Yang of Taiko, reflecting the mixture of yang energy (the rapid movement of drums and drummers and the excitement that fills the stage and auditorium) and yin energy (the communication, mutual respect, harmony, and tranquility that arises from teamwork) that is present in every taiko performance.
Tickets for the festival are $25 for general admission, or $20 for seniors, students, and PBA alumni. They may be purchased by calling 808-532-2649, in person at PBA’s Main Office at 1710 Pali Highway, or by mail using one of the printable forms below. For sponsorship opportunities, please call Rüdiger (Rudy) Rückmann at 532-2649, ext. 209 or click here to learn more about Taiko sponsorship packages.

Taiko is an integral part of the course offerings at PBA, the only high school in the United States with a peace curriculum based on Buddhist teachings. Considered a reflective art, Taiko is required for freshmen who may choose to study it through their senior year. Taiko offers students a foundation to enrich their mental and physical capacities.
