Legacy Society

We would be honored to welcome you as a member of the Legacy Society. Through your support and friendship, you demonstrate that you are part of the Pacific Buddhist Academy family. For this we are deeply grateful.

The Legacy Society was established to ensure that PBA’s vision and mission are projected to future generations. The Society was created for individuals and families who have already chosen or who plan to leave a legacy to PBA through bequests, retirement plans, charitable trusts, and other planned gift options.

To learn more about the Legacy Society, we encourage you to talk with your family or financial advisers, and Advancement Director Rüdiger “Rudy” Rückmann at (808) 532-2649, ext. 209 or

Planned gifts of any and all sizes to Pacific Buddhist Academy are welcome, and there are many ways to leave a lasting gift.

Beneficiary of Your Will

A common way to leave a legacy gift is to name Pacific Buddhist Academy as a beneficiary of your will. For sample language, please click here.

Transfer of Assets

You may also leave a gift through a simple transfer of assets. All that is usually required is for you to contact your bank or financial service provider and complete a simple form. Examples include naming Pacific Buddhist Academy as a beneficiary of life insurance policies, retirement plan accounts, trusts or transfers of stock.

In addition to leaving a lasting legacy to PBA, you and your loved ones may also realize substantial tax benefits either during your lifetime or through your estate, depending on the gift method chosen.

Donate Your IRA Rollover

Another way to support PBA is through an IRA charitable rollover. Individuals aged 70.5 and older can make direct transfers totaling up to $100,000 per year to 501(c)3 non-profit organizations without having to count the transfers as income for federal income tax purposes. This applies to your mandatory minimum IRA distributions, as well as any other gift from your IRA to PBA. Our Taxpayer Identification: #04-3660909.

Will I receive a tax deduction?

Depending on the type of gift, you may receive substantial deductions during your lifetime and/or for your estate. For example, retirement plans are subject to heavy estate taxes. Naming PBA as a beneficiary of your plan allows you to provide your friends and family with a share of your estate without this burden.

Can anyone make a planned gift?

Yes, if you are thinking about estate planning then you can certainly make a planned gift to PBA. Every gift is meaningful. Our Advancement Office can confidentially help you navigate through your plans.

Can I be anonymous?

If you prefer not to have PBA list your name as a Legacy Society member, we will list you as Anonymous.
